Creation Lake is a novel from a writer at the height of their capability. Every bit of it, or almost every bit of it, from the self referential winks at the end to the digressions into water tables and pre history has a place and purpose. It isn't howeber, just well constructed. This Kusnher masterpiece spends time with the characters. It has been soe time since I've been so simultaneously res * repulsed, intrigued, and terrified of a main character before. Her 'Sadie' isn't some super spy. She's arguabley * sic* way too grounded in the rational. (See the scary part above). Her gaping flaws are one of the man amain ways she becomes relatable. Just read it.

I just finished Wandering Stars by Tommy Orange so I'll leave my first rundown here. IT's a staggering achievement. I don't want to reveal too much with reh regards to plot but it is certainly accessuible to those who have not read There There. The central characters of the Red Feather Brothers plus Their 'Grandmother' all by their turn grab hold of you. Again it's sort of diffuicult for me to do anything other than recommend you read Wandering Start* Stars. Wandering *s. It's just humane, very heavy, and even more rewarding. Orange may only be starting an all time great career as a novelist. One of the greatest things I can say it about it is that it doesn't feel like an installment or cash in in any way whatsoever. MAny must have felt weary of the author thinking of competing with There There. All this reviewers fears have been assuaged. Just read it. Shput Shout out from the bay area.

Tryibg to get the year end list sorted is pretty delayed in teweenty three. Part of it was distraction with my own wirting projects that needed some thing finished. It turns out that having a new years resolution like "finish things that I start" includes the resolution itself. Darn it. Anyways it is on the way. This will be my platform fo the forseeable future. Look work wise forward and just sorta try to be in the moment if pozsible for everything else. What's the phrase? Pay attention, you might last longer. The most recent NYer one ' Keats at twenty four ' was better than tolerable if you are looking for something quick to digest.
