Here we go, keeping in mind that these are just my first impressions of the new Taylor Swift record. The Tortured Poets Department is here, and it is not good. Though there are many prolific poets out there, being prolific and good rarely go well together. I don't know if this is some sort of psy-op on her own fans or what. It seems Taylor has really become the cool single friend that absorbs all the boringness of a questionable partner. Let's get to the more critical aspect. Is it indeed Taylor content? The bottom line is that she needs to break up with Jack Antonoff; the two are in a self-reinforcing rut. Basically, between the Eras tour and Super Bowl Boyfriend nonsense, we've already had enough of her shtick for a long time. Then she goes and puts every track from the first five recording sessions onto the album. Make them buy separate.

Please get off of my Spotify, The Last Dinner Party. They really need a 'neber * never again' button on their app. What kind of corporate boardroom or these days, multi modal LLM produced this shit? "Task: new gil girl group" boygenius is hot. Let's throw in a large dose of Abba. Ok now let's turn of err turn up the 'gets cis-het boys hard but not too hard knob' (see what was done there). And the result of this is that Spotify recommends it every other time I open this app. If this is fourth wab* fourth-wave feminism with a wink, a nod and an MFA, these are the legacy admissions. Hard pass. This is everything wrong with th old recor d insdustry. I think that's about it. I'll show myself out.

Best side hustle ever! IF you are of a certain age and are even a mid REM fan, then you missed out if you didn't attend one of this groups shows at the Great American Music Hall. This tight six piece delivered on the premise and then some. I waiti *waited with tepr trepidation for 'Seven Chinese Brothers', my fave from Reckoning. The expectation was high as they shredded Harborcoat out of the gate. Dad and Mom swaying provided great energy in a room full of those that'd drop $50 bucks on a cover band. Shannon was electric, an accomplished actor fully inhabiting Michael Stipe, but make *making the role his own. That role has to be the indie rock *cough alternative* equivalent of Hamlet.

7th: The National, Laugh Track this release was a surprise to me. Not an unpleasant one though! Laugh Traack finds the National returning to form. This is a strong statement as one of the main disparaging points levied against them is well, 'formlessness'. Sure, they are accused of slander like 'being Taylor Swifts' backing band, but to my ear no one else captures the on *internal monologues of mid to late forties hangovers I habve havent had yet like t The National do. You've got to work to have lived in lyrics and arrangements like this. 'New Order T-Shirt', W 'Weierd Goodbyes', these tracks HIT pfo for anyone that kinda helped themselves while holding onto a dream and suffere suffering performance reviews into their solid thirties. I recently caught the band live, they played almost three hoursl. It was triumphant. Laugh Track recovers some of that joy and we should all be glad for it. Standout; The one with Roseanne Cash. Crumble. IF you don't get them, you don't. You'll know after two tracks.
